Farewell to Miss Piggy

Sadly, despite heroic action by Steve, Miss Piggy is gone. A snake (perhaps a young cousin of Slytherin?) had Miss Piggy several inches out of the water when he intervened. She seemed okay but didn’t live through the night so some damage was done. Miss Piggy was one of our original goldfish, and our only named fish. She was, as you might have guessed, the biggest fish. The snake’s head was only about a quarter inch in diameter and Miss Piggy was comparatively huge (pictured smaller than life here). Two other fish have disappeared as well … one of them since Miss Piggy’s rescue, even though we drove the snake out of the pond and down the hill towards the creek.

Life is hard.

Good news! As I was leaving the house, I spotted the fourth fish! Apparently it was just in hiding. Let’s hope the hungry snake looks elsewhere for food today.
