Her eyes said “Take me home.”

And so we did.

Meet Ginger … 25 pounds of irresistable sweetness. Animal Friends Rescue Project brought her to a Employee Giving campaign at City Hall.

Silly me, I went.

I never looked at anything else (not even the kitties). Today she met Noche and Guinness, and with their blessing, joined the family. To be totally honest, she ignores them. Fortunately, she ignores cats and chickens too (the cats are still suspicious.)

So far we know that she loves food and people. And that she wants to be a lap dog. Given the mud factor at our house, this is something to work on. Our other challenge is teaching her not to go wee any time, any place, just to prove she was there. She’s got “sit” and “come”. Doesn’t understand “down” or “stay”. Seems to know “dance” and “roll-over”.

This is what the website said:

She’s an irresistible corgi/pug mix who is out to steal your heart. At eight years of age, Ginger is a mellow snuggler who likes to be wherever her human is. She is quiet, house trained and crate trained, and she gets along great with other dogs and cats. Ginger was rescued from the Martinez shelter, where her time was up. She’s in good health other than limited vision in one eye.

They got the “steal your heart” part of that right.

Congratulations on the new family member! So different from your other BIG dogs. Her legs only look to be 2 inches tall – tee hee. So the Paulson-Scribner family is on the rise in size again. Yeah for you all!!!!!!!

Actually, her legs are about 6 inches long. And her feet are almost as big as Noche’s. But yes, she is definitely different than our other dogs. She’s a “little dog”. Which is almost like being something other than a dog… but what, I’m not sure. She defines the word “sweet”. And now that she’s given up on marking in the house, she’s easy as pie. Even the cats have settled down already. The only bummer is that she won’t play with Noche. Since the original idea was to get him a playmate, maybe we’ll have to get dog number three!

She is cute and glad she is fitting into family so well. Good thing you only bring home every stray animal or we would have human grandkids coming out our ears! Love ya!

Maybe when people ask me if I have any siblings, instead of saying I have one sister, I should say “I have dozens! In all colors and sizes.” Congrats on lovely Ginger…and *hopefully* the end of the strike (crossing my fingers so I don’t jinx it). PS–Found a plane ticket deal for about $300 bucks roundtrip to Detroit…hmm…

Got a message from Travelocity. Must travel by Feb 3. The tickets seem to range from $250-400. Seems like a good deal, though I’m not sure when I/we could go (we have no idea what Mike’s schedule will be come Dec 18). But it sure would be fun to visit folks in MI! Unfortunately, I’ve only got 7 hours of PTO at the moment, so I’d have to attach it to a holiday I’m already getting off, or something.
