Obsession

After obsessing for days on my Photoshop final project, it is done. Well almost done. (Is anything ever really done?) I have to transition to my Illustrator final (not yet started) and math homework. Oh, and those other little things that crop up like work and roofers. Anyway, here it is. A room, based loosely on my own house, with some obvious poetic license taken to incorporate various projects from the semester (that teapot took me most of the drive to Oregon and back!) It’s all mine, right down to the individual redwood needles! And Ginger sleeping in the middle of it all. Of course, if this were truly accurate, she wouldn’t be on the floor … she’s more of a bed dog.

ps. Click on the image above to see a larger version. Not recommended for slow internet connections! Still, these jpeg images are tiny compared to the Photoshop file. At over 40 megs, it’s twice as big as my first hard drive of oh-so-many-years ago!

Nice project! Not sure what you were to do but it looks great. I am just waiting for the storm plus hail. We actually had sun today but now on storm warning. Talked to Aunt Dude and she had already had hail but not too awful as she was driving in it. We will head out if ready by 2pm tomorrow and stay at Waite’s until Fri. Hope your roof is being done and going well. We are still waiting on our chimney but they did work today on painting others. love you

The assignment was to create a room, with an outdoor scene, and all of the things that go into the room, using Photoshop and Illustrator. I’m happy with the end result which, believe me, is a good thing as I can’t begin to tally the hours it took to create each individual element, let alone assembling them all together. To someone who doesn’t know our house, some of the perspective probably looks dead wrong. How many people (besides us) do you know who live in a hexagon-shaped house with a desk that is four feet high?

Wow Laurie, this is great! I am extremely impressed by the redwood needles and then the sunlight beaming through. Without a doubt I am sure it is an A+. You are quite the computer artist. I think the ceiling does a great job of letting a person know it is not a square room so things DO look in perspective. (Do you have french doors now or is that one of the creativity on your part?)

Now, the only thing missing is you or Steve at the computer in the picture. We know you can draw you so you need to try Steve in your spare time.

Good luck on the other finals. I am SOOOOOOO glad that is all over for me. (except the Spanish stuff and I will complete those this week.) I called on Tuesday but she wasn’t available so I will probably call tomorrow or Friday. Procrasination, fear, nervousness, anxiousness and more nervousness have been delaying the process but it is time to face it and just do it!

Well, we just got home from Hannah and Celia’s baseball game (lost by 1) and I am extremely amazed at the power, force, and ability that 7, 8, and 9 year olds have on a baseball field. I have to admit it was fun being an “active” aunt again and not missing things b/c of studying or lesson planning, etc…

Again, Laura your project is fantastic!

Thanks Michele! I’m happy with it but I think you give me more praise than I deserve. I’ll take it though ! As for french doors, no we don’t have them. One of our earlier assignments was to make french doors so I stuck them in there. In real life though, sliding glass doors make more sense. Much more space efficient in our teeny house.

The roof is coming along slowly. It’s off. Or perhaps I should say, “they’re off”, since there were two, one composite, one tile. Both leaked. Today they started fixing some damaged areas and laying out the lines for the skylights we’re adding. Three of the six center triangles in our roof will be skylights when this is all done! Hopefully most of the roof will be on by the weekend since I just heard there is rain in the forecast starting Friday afternoon, continuing through the weekend. Doesn’t that just figure?! The skylights will take a couple more weeks to be done since they’re custom and won’t be ordered till tomorrow.

Good luck on the Spanish placement test. Keep me posted!

Wow! How big are these skylights? Beanie just
called and they have everyone signed on fire so
they think they are settled. Probably happen
next week. Deal isn’t great but okay and now
they will have to sell land after they buy it
back. Crazy, but they are thrilled to have it
finished. Hopefully they can get out of debt
when that is done and start over! love you all

hey big sister and big brother – start looking for tickets and eco-tours in Costa Rica! I made the call today and I passed at a level high enough to take my class in Costa Rica!!!!!!!

    Vamos!

Hey more good news…I like days like today! I heard from the school district that I interviewed with and I made the cuts. I am on the short list for principals to contact for job openings and they said they are expecting “several vacancies” this year due to retirement, increased enrollment, etc….

Just wanted to share my good news!

Charming, charming, charming! The creative process that produces this magic is a great mystery to me – can’t imagine the brain-power required:0)

  9. Laura

Congratulations, Michele! What a great-news-filled day! I started looking for plane fares! And thanks, Cathy… now if only I could take photos like you!

I have to say that I am especially impressed by the tree reflections in the French door on the right and that gigglefern.com appears on the computer screen. Very well done (surprise, surprise). Are we a family of obsessive over-acheivers or what?! Congrats to you too Michele!

  11. Michele

Wow what an eye for detail! I hadn’t noticed but Westi is right. Those details are awesome Laura!
