Murphy’s Law example:
One of my goals for the summer was to start exercising on a regular schedule. So after my class ended in June, I started running, biking and swimming. It was tough the first few weeks but around August it started to feel good. Yesterday, I even biked 17.5 miles and then ran 4 miles and I felt so energized afterwards. I have been wanting to run a triathlon for a long time and finally had the confidence that I should go for it. So I filled out an entry form last night for a race up at Stoney Creek Metro Park in September. I bought my racing suit… I was very excited… woke up late this morning because it was a rest day for training… and proceeded to walk into a book case and break my little toe. I am not sure when I will be able to run. Bummer!!!

You’re doing better getting things posted than I am Steve! Guess I better get on it. Sorry to hear about your toe. You are in good company with Mike … did you know he broke his foot the week before he started the Academy for his new job with San Jose Fire? Not good timing! They have to run miles each day. It’s not ideal but he’s doing it. Steve and I both are stepping gingerly this week from back issues. Put us all together and we’re a pretty pathetic bunch. Here’s to healing quickly!
I’ll hope for a fast recovery for everyone and I think I should be able to run soon. It looks worse than it feels right now.
Wow Steve – what a real bummer. I hope you will still be able to run the race – I know before a marathon trainers don’t have runners run and if they do they should only run a couple of miles – so maybe all you training still pays off and you will still be able to run the race in 12 days!
Give me a call and let me know what the price of the suit.
Wow, this family is sure on the injured list. Shaun can’t run much either because of a hurt foot. He is doing short runs I think. Sorry about your toe Steve. You will have to bike and swim a lot this week and keep strong. Dad did same thing about a month ago and it hurt for awhile (hurt bad)but healed pretty fast. Sure hope yours does too. I hope the rest of you also heal fast. I have left messages, Steve, but no response so let us know if we can help and what the plan is for weekend. Why doesn’t everyone come here, okay!! Or maybe come on Sept and 11 and we can watch Steve.
I hear you’re running the race tomorrow, even with a broken toe. Wow! Go Steve. I hope someone takes pictures and posts them. Will be thinking about you tomorrow while I’m laying in the hammock, book and drink in hand!
