Isn’t that a song title? No, you say? Perhaps it wouldn’t make a very good one but it was the refrain in our household Sunday morning. We are out of practice. The sad thing is that though the work is all about having less stress and more fun down the road, we were forgetting how to enjoy where we are. Don’t worry. We figured it out. The beach called. In particular, Carmel City Beach called. Carmel allows dogs off leash and it was heavenly to let dogs romp without looking over our shoulders for rangers. The day was foggily perfect for beach walking and we walked it from end-to-end, greeting nice dogs and nice people the entire way. Ginger would have happily gone home with any number of dog-loving families who invited her onto their blankets but, selfish dog-parents that we are, we made her stay with us. Heading towards home, we found sunshine at Manresa State Beach where we popped the top and had a hotdog, watermelon, chips and guacamole feast-of-a-dinner as pods of dolphins frolicked and the sun set over the Monterey Bay. Ahhh yes … life IS good.
