“Firsts” are fun and Steve and I have been pleading to be present for the twins first taste of “solid” food (not that mashed avocado with a little formula mixed in is all that “solid”!) Last night we got our wish. After much consultation and research, Mama Woo Bear was ready to give it a go. Of the options offered up by the docs and specialists, she chose avocado for its high fat content (though all the experts say “don’t worry” about Gracie’s petiteness… she’s doing just fine.) It was a big day for the twins, starting with a visit to the pediatrician where they got shots. Ouch. Emmett wasn’t feeling quite himself so he might like food better today. He definitely wasn’t enthralled with the spoon but avocado off of Grandpa’s finger was kind of interesting. Gracie took it all in stride, thoughtfully considering each bite in her usual Gracie way. Mama Westi reports no ill effects today and Grandma Laura and Grandpa Steve are looking forward to more fun food adventures to come!

I am not surprised that Gracie liked the spoon. It is so much more civilized and it matches her other identified “high-maintenance” traits. She will probably always prefer it when someone is feeding her too. Not when she has to fee herself. LOL
The pictures are adorable. Thanks for sharing them. Next time we want video. Westi and Michael spoiled me and now I am high maintenance!
Michele said first feeding was on web so I came to look.
How cute! Glad dad was also present for first time. Emmett
looks a little less happy than usual. Hope he is good today. Good to see little of Mike and Wes also. Now whole
new experience each day. They are growing up too fast –
we have to get there soon. I want to see babies! Michele
got text from Loren. He is in hotel in Whittenberg so he
is back in Germany and on way to Berlin. Eager to hear
how he liked Prague. Everyone raves about it. Just glad
he is checking in – if in Germany again he may find an
internet cafe and email. I sent him a note incase he does.
Keep the photos coming! love you all
Soon, Mom… soon. You will be here. The twins are a joy. Gracie’s actually been very easy the last couple of visits. She and Emmett both have their days… mostly related to teething, we think. Emmett does generally eat more and sleep longer where Gracie takes little cat naps and snacks. But then, just when you get to expect that, they mix it up and surprise you. I love, love, love, having them here at the beach with us!
Hmmm…I would bet that the expression on my face with my first taste of avocado.
Hmmm…I would bet that the expression on my face with my first taste of avocado was about like Gracie’s.
Sorry ’bout that first comment…I got interrupted. Feel free to delete oh great and powerful web mistress.
