In grandparents, that is. Dad sent me these photos to show me how cute I was (it’s true, isn’t it?) But what I loved about them was the grandparents pictured with me. Great-Grandpa Driver, Great-Grandma Gorden, and my beloved Grandma Loretta. I have such yummy memories. Going to Grandpa’s wonderful stone house, the smell of his shop, feeding candy to “Pete”, reading his books, looking at his collections. I thought Grandma Gordon’s house was the best, especially the outhouse and having to pump water outside. I especially loved it when she took her long braids out and combed her hair. Grandma Loretta memories are plentiful; making (and eating) her Pot Pie, admiring her flowers and sitting on the bird house up in her backyard tree. How wonderfully, stubbornly independent she was. And how she spoiled “my” dog, Brandy. Send me some more memories, dad … okay?
ps. My mom was pretty cute too, wasn’t she?

So very cool. Boy what a difference 10 years makes b/c I don’t have all those memories but I have plenty of my own. Who was Pete? Grandma Gordon’s dog?
What a cute little kid!! Sure does bring back
memories but what I really liked were your memories about things. I didn’t even know some
of them happened! After the weekend we can send more photos. Our weekend is filled with
church and good stuff. You did have an abundance of grandparents. You even had a
great-great grandma Lomont. She lived three
months after you were born so you never met her. I only had one set of great-great. Love, mom
Pete was Grandpa Driver’s very, very fat dachshund. I think the candy was meant to be for dogs but I’m not positive. Grandpa gave it to us to give to Pete. From the looks of Pete, we (as in grandkids) weren’t the only ones feeding it to him.
I have similar fond memories about grandma Gordon´s house and the outhouse, but after a week of using outhouses in Honduras the memory doesn´t seem that distant.
Little brother… did you post from Honduras? Or are you home?
I don’t mean to be rude here, but what kind of photo plugin are you using if any? Also, if you made it, would you mind if I used it on my site?
Well big brother and big sister, I think I missed out on the “nostalgia” of outhouses from Grandma Gordon’s b/c I can honestly say I hated them when travelling in greece. Ummmm, you both camp lots more then me too, I wonder if there was some influence here……tee hee hee.
In answer to Jonathon… it’s a plugin called Exhibit which was written by a guy named Owen. He makes it freely available at his site: http://www.asymptomatic.net/_wp-hacks. There’s a fair amount of information in the WordPress support forums about it too.
Hola. I am posting from Honduras. The last two days we have been in San Pedro Sula with internet connection. Big difference from El Guante with no running water (no hot water) and sometimes electricity. Trip has been great. I will post pictures soon.
Looking forward to that, little brother…
OK, Dad, I want to know where the pictures of me with grandpa Driver, Grandma Gorden and your parents are? Or did you only take pictures of Laura? I always knew she was the favorite.
Your challenge to Dad might be just what we need to get him to participate in this blog. Mom reads and comments but I don’t think Dad is even lurking. Come on Dad … you’re slacking.
This is great!I had not looked for a couple days because we have been gone a lot. Sorry, we missed Steve’s comments from Honduras. We will see him tonight. I think he is probaby on
way to Houston right now. We can learn how to do what you and Steve do, Laura. Maybe dad would pay more attention then. Dad is at Steve’s feeding cats because we forgot to do it
on way home. I will have him look on way home
and also find more photos of others. You girls
say Steve is favorite so that had to be a tongue in cheek comment from him. Keep this
going. love, mom
My earlier comment was wrong. I didn’t have any
great-great and only one set of great grandparents.
First of all, Dad doesn’t write much because Dad is the quiet, reserved, quiescent member of the family. Secondly, I don’t have time to write because I have to do all this work getting pictures scanned, identified, put in order, and mailed to my children. Thirdly, Laura is not the favorite, but the first. And I am only scanning 1961 to 1963 right now. So, sit back, relax, cool it, and I will speak up when I have something profound to offer. Until then, Love you all. Dad
IT WORKED! What he said isn’t true but it worked 🙂
Dad, no potatoes in freezing weather with no shoes story to go along with the fiction in your last statement? tee hee
Hey Jon did’t know you are reading this too :0. Greets
