We were blessed with good weather

… but that was then. Yesterday, in Texas. Life was warm and dry. Now, in New Mexico, heading to Arizona, things have changed. We’ve been following the forecast and so, expecting the storm and falling temperatures, we pulled over in a rest area to make an early meal and walk dogs while it was still sunny and dry. It would have been more pleasant without the 40 mile an hour winds but hey… you can’t have everything. Things were hunky dory until I noticed the low tire. Yep, we had picked up a nail. Bummer. It was a hassle to change the tire but all things considered, we were sooooo lucky. Not more than 10 minutes after getting back on the road, we drove into freezing rain and snow. We would have had a flat—or worse, a blow-out—at high speeds in wet, icy conditions. Right now it is snowing and blowing but visibility is still okay. It’s cold though. Steve had to break through ice in order to insert his credit card in the slot at the fuel pump! According to the weather service, life is better on the other side of this front. May we get there safely, and soon!

Update: We did make it to the other side. Tucson is a couple thousand feet lower and about 10 degrees warmer. We can actually see some stars!

That is scary to think about! Glad you are safe and it is
better weather. Ours is crazy. Today is to be 61. It is
very foggy this morning but finally ice is melting and the
snow is ugly. We will get new to replace it later this week. Today we are going to DIA to see Monet’ exhibit – one of Jill’s Christmas gifts. Kathy and kids will meet
us there also. Michele called and they got to Vegas no
problem and they even let them check in early. Hope you
have good travel today. love you both

So far, so good. We woke up to cold weather but with clear skies and dry roads. Just got the tire fixed at a Discount Tires in Phoenix. They were awesome. No charge to repair, mount, balance and reinstall the tire and spares in their proper places. Fast and friendly too. If I lived here, I would definitely do business with these folks in the future!

Hey! You need a blow dryer for such mishaps!
Fortunately, I have not had to bring on the heat to get into my car this year.
Weather here is glorious! But you probably know that by now. Look forward to seeing you and the entourage again!

Not for the tire…for the frozen credit card scanner.
Although, I am sure we could have “Macgyvered” something using a hair dryer, WD40 and duct tape.
