Until we meet again, Texas …

Texas Picnic Area

We are on our way out of Texas. After 2 plus months … over half of the time we have been on the road … we will finally leave this second-most giant of states (I think Mom and Dad return to MI from the biggest-of-all states today.) We stopped at this creative Texas roadside rest “Picnic Area” before overnighting at Camping World yesterday. Does it make full use of Texas icons or what? The designer managed to incorporate the longhorn, flag and omnipresent Texas star, all in one shelter!

We’re so close to the Oklahoma border that by the time I finish typing this, we’ll probably cross over. (We did!) We are headed to central Indiana where we will provide kayak support for my crazy brother while he does a 25K competitive lake swim. Long-time family friends and my nieces will be there too so it should be fun.

Things have been fast and furious since we closed escrow on our new house last Wednesday. We’ve already had a little party with family and new neighbors as Dennis, Nancy and Nicole drove up from Rockport to spend the weekend with us. The irony is that they have slept in our house and we still have not. It was hard to leave. We wanted to nest.

Hooray! I am looking forward to the pics…for some reason, they are taking an eternity to download.
LOVE that picnic area shelter. They really DO things big in Texas, don’t they?

Um….I think Dottie will take offense at being referred to as a “floaty thing”.

Gorgeous! I can see why you picked it.

I think bubbleshare was having issues today as it gave me fits uploading too. I added more this evening, mostly of camping at the lake, so check the slideshow out again.

By a total fluke, we are camped near Joanne’s sister, Susan, tonight. They are coming by our campsite in the morning!

    How cool is that!?!?
Give her a big hug from California!
(and that we hope she comes to visit real soon!)
Love the new photos. It really IS where the deer and the antelope play!

I had missed the bikes and boats. Love that photo. Dad said
he saw it so I guess he looks. Just keep all the photos
coming. Can’t wait until you are here. love you both

Oh, my goddess! I have been reading up, but got the nudge passed on by Kim that you’ve been wanting to hear from me. It is truly indicative of the willingness you and Steve have to find treasures amongst the haystacks that you would find a place in Texas to love deeply, to call home! Loved the pix, and the idea of floating around in warm waters, though I think visiting may require your cooperation in finding workshops to lead in the area, once you return. I do envy the spaciousness of the life you seem to be having. I was telling someone you’d left Louden after me, and slipped to say you had retired! seems almost true! all that said, I miss your hugs, your partnership, your everything. met the woman you sold your house to at Vaiva’s doing tie dye last week. missed you more after that. be good. read poetry. laugh loudly. keep posting pix. I love you, Kristin

Yeahhh… I have been needing a Kristin fix. (Thank you, Kim!) Life has been pretty full and not all that spacious. We seem to have a knack for being in a rush, even with no jobs. Itineraries have a way of happening. Hopefully this fall, when we’re back on the west coast, we can take our time a little more. As for visits, Austin seems a perfect place for workshops, etc. We’ll have to see what we can do! Love you too!

Glad you arrived safely. You will be in same place for a
few days. Hope Steve does well and we know he has a good
    crew. love ya

Wow that is one good looking shelter, that designer must be a sombitch with a california design education. All is well with Toby and I, can’t say the same for JJ, he hurt himself boggiebording yesterday and will be out for 3 months. Do not have any details but seems like he got pretty banged up.

Hope you have fun in Okl.
