This holiday weekend was a teaser of good things to come. High winds kept us stationary the first day but on Friday we headed to the Delta where, almost a year ago, plans crystallized to sell and go. Last year we enjoyed the company of strangers; this time the trip was rich with long-time good friends. Judi came from Sacramento on Saturday … Rodger from Marin on Sunday. We biked, walked, bird-watched, paddled, visited, and ate Steve’s good cooking. It was perfect.
We head “home” to Watsonville this afternoon. It’s back to work tomorrow for me but only for three more weeks. Oh my, we are really going to do this!

Hey, thanks for the new photos. We haven’t talked
to you for ages so this makes up for it. Didn’t know you were going to be gone. We didn’t have
holiday here (lots of others did). Glad you got to
see friends. Where is the Delta? Love you both
Laura,
You’re home looks so cozy and wonderfully fur-kid friendly. All that fencing and gates brought back memories.
I hope Ohio is on your itinerary and that you’ll contact me when you’re close by.
Keith and I would love to visit and as I mentioned – we have the home in the rolling hills of central Ohio (close to Amish country) where you’d be welcome.
This had GOT to be an exciting time for you and Steve.
The Sacramento Delta is between Sacramento and San Francisco. We were camped on Three Mile Slough, a connector between the San Joaquin and the Sacramento Rivers. It is tidally influenced which is just amazing, given how far from the ocean it is. Before a year ago, the Delta was just a place we drove through; now it is one of our favorite places.
Be careful what you wish for, Cathy. We’ll be on your doorstep (or in your driveway) before you know it!
