Dottie turns one year old today and we are off to celebrate her birthday with her brother, sisters, mom, grandma and assorted guardian humans. It should be fun!

Happy Birthday Dottie! I hope you all had fun at her birthday celebration? How much longer until she is ALL yours and only yours?
Dottie will be all ours after she no longer has breeding potential. That will be when she is six years old unless there is a medical reason to spay, or not to breed, sooner than that. Of course we don’t hope for those reasons so if all goes as planned, it will be five years from now or three litters of puppies, whichever comes sooner.
Our job now is to get her ready. She’ll be bred when she is two and she needs some ribbons before then. This is all new to me and I confess I don’t fully know what that means but we’re about to get educated. Dottie starts conformation classes in October and will participate in her first show Oct 13. It is an AKC event and farmdogs are not an AKC-recognized breed so it will just be for practice (which is perfect.) Then, Veteran’s Day weekend she is entered in the real deal … an ARBA (American Rare Breed Association) show in Southern California. This particular show is the show of shows for the year as it is the “specialty” show for farmdogs and the leading expert on farmdogs is coming from Denmark to judge. We’ve “gone to the dogs” as we’ve taken almost a week off of work to attend the show. It’s held at a “pet friendly” hotel (The Claremont in… you guessed it… Claremont) and the whole gang is going. Well, maybe not Grayson… but then again … if we’ve sold our house, most likely he will go along too!
The birthday bash was fun! You’ll see I added a couple of photos. There were eight farmdogs including a 3 month old puppy, Ruby, that now lives with Dottie’s grandma Flora and shares her butterscotch coloring.
Happy birthday, Dottie! Things do move along quickly. Wow! two shows. This is a new experience for all of you! Usually you just
play on the beach. love ya
