Still standing …

Steve at end of successful triathlon
That’s what Dad said I should call this post. He’s not into blogging but he did send me this photo for posting. And in his words …

“Steven finished running the triathlon on Sunday, 11 SEP 05. Did so in 3 hours, 10 seconds. Hurt my feelings. I ran my first triathlon in 3 hours and 7 minutes. Not fair. Probably his bike cost more than mine. Of course, I was panting and dying when I finished. Steve acted like it was a morning walk through the park. Michele, his mother, a friend from Marygrove (Sally), and I were there to see him finish. Of course, I had to drive 800 miles to get to where he ran. But, he did great! I must add, that it was really nice of his sister to drive all that distance, and take time off of studies, and to miss church, to watch him run.”

I’m trying to be inspired by you, little brother, rather than just feeling envious. Congratulations on your first triathlon! Will there be more in your future?

    Thanks, Laura. I do think there will be more triathlons. I actually just finished a twenty mile ride in very rainy and windy conditions. I don’t think dad should feel to bad about me beating his time, every triathlon I could have run this summer had a different distance. So his could have been even longer than mine (although I think it was shorter). (-;

    I was proud of him – he has worked hard but seems to really be enjoying the rides and runs on Grosse Ile watching the sunrise. I was amazed that he was not wiped out – oh, to be young again. Of course, he better do lots this year as next year he will probably be to old! It was good to see Michele (and Sally) we saw both twice in three days! Michele is always there for her “brofer’ even though sometimes she can’t do it physically. Love you all!
