Riding in Style

It all began with a question. “Vaiva … do you have a wagon we can borrow? Ginger can’t keep up.” Vaiva did but Ginger just said “no”. She didn’t like the cart either. As it turned out, she did like the jogger that Tommy had salvaged from the dump. We had a winner! It didn’t take Princess Ginger long to “load up” on command and off we went. People encountered on the road variously think we are cute or ridiculous, and one neighbor exclaimed “Now that’s an ugly baby!” He was wrong, of course. Ginger is cute! And the jogger is now a routine part of life.

But then … we took our bikes on vacation. Now… if Ginger can’t keep up walking, she surely can’t go along on a bike ride. Hmmmm… that is, unless we have a bike trailer! We shopped on craigslist and almost bought one but it didn’t fold. Found a really cool custom one in Oregon but it was way too much money. Then, Ed bought one cheap at a garage sale and he gave it to us. Woo Hoo! Today I bought a “pup tent” to keep Ginger safely enclosed while riding. She likes it! The real trick is going to be teaching Noche to run calmly alongside a bicycle. Wish us luck and let the fun begin!

Announcing a New Member of the Family!

BellaSome folks have grandkids. We have granddogs. Steve met our new one yesterday but I have only just now seen her photo. Her name is Bella and she is 9 weeks old. She came from a family of eleven, via the same rescue agency through which we got Ginger, and I gather her parentage is a bit of a mystery. Next weekend, she (and Guinness) will stay with us while new parents, Westi and Mike, go camping. Guinn hasn’t figured out what he thinks about all of this but I can’t wait!
