Meet Franny and Glo

Formally known as Tunny and Lunny, although I never knew which was who. My five year old neighbor, Truxton, named them after a birthday trip to the pet store—to get a frog—went awry. Trux and Truxton (big and little) came home with bunnies instead. Love at first sight doesn’t always last and now they live with me. Or rather, with our chickens. Strangely, their new names came to me in a dream. Weird but true. At least it’s better dreaming bunny names than Road Association meetings. The next day I awoke in a foul mood from a nightmare in which a neighbor decided last minute not to have the meeting at his house and everybody piled into mine. Without asking. Steve couldn’t hack it and bailed. I was angry but no one would listen to me. The people running it (who don’t actually live here) were trying to include gates, flu shots, and charges for toasting our bagels all into a bundle of expenses that I was against. My friend, Dawn, from high school was saying “Laura, they know we are friends so they want me to talk to you and calm you down…”

It is good to have bunnies again.

Steve at end of successful triathlon
That’s what Dad said I should call this post. He’s not into blogging but he did send me this photo for posting. And in his words …

“Steven finished running the triathlon on Sunday, 11 SEP 05. Did so in 3 hours, 10 seconds. Hurt my feelings. I ran my first triathlon in 3 hours and 7 minutes. Not fair. Probably his bike cost more than mine. Of course, I was panting and dying when I finished. Steve acted like it was a morning walk through the park. Michele, his mother, a friend from Marygrove (Sally), and I were there to see him finish. Of course, I had to drive 800 miles to get to where he ran. But, he did great! I must add, that it was really nice of his sister to drive all that distance, and take time off of studies, and to miss church, to watch him run.”

I’m trying to be inspired by you, little brother, rather than just feeling envious. Congratulations on your first triathlon! Will there be more in your future?
